How many times lately have I heard company bosses say that by still having a job in today’s market should be rewarding enough. I find this so aggravating.
I know there is a glut of available candidates for any business to tap into, but in my view it is more beneficial to ensure the team you have are well rewarded.
In today’s market place companies may not be able to recognise and reward staff for exceptional work in traditional ways such as providing that holiday to the Bahamas or a super 42” television, but often even a simple thank you or a letter hand written by the Managing Director can make a difference.
With the time and cost it takes to employ new staff and with the new legislation coming through regarding pensions it is so important to retain good people.
When business conditions improve you really don’t want to lose that good team member to another company!!!
